About Us

Providence NYC is not just any restaurant. It’s a historic landmark with a rich history dating back to the early 1900s. Formerly a church, the building was later converted into a world-famous recording studio where some of the greatest musicians of all time recorded their music.

History

Originally built in 1912 as a Baptist church, the building at 311 West 57th Street in New York City underwent a major renovation in the 1960s and was transformed into a state-of-the-art recording studio. The studio was owned by the legendary recording engineer Phil Ramone, who worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, and Stevie Wonder.

The studio was known for its innovative recording techniques and high-quality equipment, which allowed musicians to create some of their most iconic works. The likes of Jimi Hendrix, Tony Bennett, Bob Dylan, and Quincy Jones, among others, all recorded at the studio, making it a hub of creativity and talent.

In 2005, the building was once again transformed, this time into Providence NYC. The new owners, recognizing the building’s rich history and unique architecture, preserved many of its original features, including the cathedral ceiling, antique artistry, and dramatic chandelier. Today, Providence NYC is a top-rated fine-dining restaurant that celebrates its rich history and provides a one-of-a-kind dining experience.
